Undoubtedly one of the more challenging trips weather wise.

Summer had officially not arrived by the time I touched down in Christchurch early January and the hail, sleet and snow bore testimony to that fact.

The rivers were dirty in a lot of places and the west coast area I had planned to fish were flooded.

Fortunately, with a van and a sense of adventure we found some pretty good pieces of water and fish.

Enjoy the ride.......
  1. One of many.
  2. Hoping for the fish to start looking up...
  3. It's amazing what you seem to find along the river banks.
  4. Adult stonefly.
  5. A pretty serious jack.
He went 8.6lb's - the markings were just amazing.
  6. The high winds blew a bunch of green beetles onto the water one morning.
It was like somebody had flicked a switch for a eating competition as trout...
  7. When the rivers were running dirty, the only options were to fish some of the high country lakes.
  8. Terrestrial cruncher......
  9. Brownie.
  10. I love this shot and the way it turned out.
  11. Little creeks and skinny water browns.
  12. An exercise in frustration.......willow grub eating brown.
  13. Breakfast of champions - whitebait fritters and a cold beer.
  14. Back country fishing.
