November 2012 will be remembered as a cold, unseasonal sort of summer.....even by NZ standards.
Arctic conditions, gale force winds and snow that blanketed the region down to 400 meters.

Still, we managed some fish and were forced to try new waters as others we usually fished simply flooded or we were blown off.

Enjoy...
  1. One of those beautiful coloured fish found in wee streams and backwaters.
  2. Small flies were the answer.
  3. Pocket rockets of the faster water - rainbows are just awesome.
  4. A small row boat was a lifesaver on this trip. 
We managed to reach water we had never fished before and the freedom of movement certainly opened up...
  5. The last hour of light on the big waters. 
 
At this particular delta we fished, my mate and I caught and released in excess of 20 fish!!  
 
None...
  6. "Dirty waters" made for challenges at times.
  7. The first day we arrived the cicadas descended en masse.

  8. This picture makes up for the bloody awful climb down the steep slopes. My mate chose to do the photography.......that was his excuse <grin>

  14. Incredibly steep canyon walls produced a unique problem casting. 
It was easy enough to polaroid fish from between 60 and 80 feet straight down, but...
