Wow ... from your initial posts about blanking, feeling clueless and out of your depth, to holding such a magnificent bow? Good job Rols, good job.

Thanks guys, that was last year fishing in Summer. I'm amped to get a good few more this season. Fishing on Sat, but I think it's still going to be a tad high. Hope I can post more pics like this beaut. ;-)

Nice Roland...I remember fishing with you some years back. You have improved significantly. That fish must be close to 16 inches. Pretty much as big as any of our stream trout. Well done bud.

I was so stoked on that day, I think I even forgot what year it was actually. I remember now the 20" and I still got home and had to google inches versus cm. It was epic.

Wow that's huge, 20 inches is just under 51 cm, and is more than half a meter, or as long as the average adult arm from shoulder to wrist. Its bigger than most of the Lakensvlei fish. My largest river trout ever measured, was 21 inches, caught at Mehrton on the Bell, and was a once in a lifetime........ ya a great fish. I have never in all my years on the Cape streams come anywhere near to that......

My largest cape stream trout was measured at 42cm, and was caught in the Nationals a few years ago. It shared the biggest fish prize with Ian Lourens who caught a fish the same size. Unfortunatly is was one of those diseased, mutated, horrible stockie escapees.

You might not believe this, but I caught a 24" trout on the Elandspad way back in 1981. Wild fish. Still have an old photo of this fish somewhere. In the same year I caught a 3 lb trout in the Liesbeeck near Hartleyvale too. About 10 years ago I caught a really heavy fish on Smalblaar 6 at the Krom junction. 5 to 6 lbs.....one of those horrible escapees with rounded tails though.

        Well done Rolls!

I however disagree, that is not a trout. It's a Garrick...

I can believe it Neil, I have seen some huge fish in the streams, but never been able to catch them A couple of years back, I was at donkergat with my son, he was casting up along the side of the rock, I was observing from the top of the rock. He hooked into a brown that must have been easily 24inckes. It was a monster. Only when he got it close and saw how big it was, did he panic, and got a bit stupid, and the fish got away, but it was monstrous...we still talk about it in hushed hallowed tones.....followed by moments of silence.
