    Hi, I have just upgraded from a xplorer 8/9wt. I enjoyed that rod for a long long time and there is nothing wrong with getting one.
    Its just now that I`m looking from the otherside of the "entry level rods" I`d say maybe have a look at the xplorer guide rods. They cost a fraction more but I think it could help you in the wind.
