fishing tours / packages
Perhaps this has been discussed before, please point me in the direction of it has.;) I am looking for a someone offers fly in fishing packages to Zambia or Botswana, It does not have to be fly-fishing only.
Hopefully somebody has been on a trip and can make some good recommendations. If I google this I get hundreds of different websites, I would prefer someone that comes with recomendations.
Perhaps this thread could become a listing for future references.
Any help?
Thanks.

Do a search in this forum for "Deewy" (Dewald Kirsten) - FlySouth Adventures - and PM him...he has just set up a package for tigers in Zambia.
And as seen on TV :D - Wildfly Travel.
Also check the local mags - lots of adverts for travel/fish packages.

Gareth Coombs does tips to Sekoma Lodge - www.sekoma.co.za

Also my friends have a wonderful lodge on the Zambezi River. They don't generally advertise it so if you are interested in a quote please PM me - I'm actually seeing them tomorrow (alas in Joeys not on the river!)
Cheers, Chris

Try Wild Frontiers in Midrand. I know they used to run trips to Lake Vic to go after Nile Perch and may have something closer to home.
Alternatively, splash out on the Uganda trip and go after one of those big toothy buggers. The biggest one caught in Lake Vic weighed 600 odd lbs.

What are they catching that weigh 600 odd pounds.......Hippo's?;)
Thought maybe you meant Goliath Tigers and made a typing error and meant 60 odd pounds.
Just out of interest guys, what are ball park figures for one of these trips.
SWAMBO want's to come back to SA in August for a wedding and I'm being dragged along. Might as well try make the schlep worthwhile.

Nope. Nile perch and close to 600 lbs according to the person I spoke to. They get some big buggers there. 10-20 kg around obstructions is pretty average and if you order a box of frozen fillets at the fish packing factory you may get half a fillet in a 5kg box if you order the large size. Small fillets are pan size and medium are about three to a box.
