Cape Town Flyfishing
I have a couple of days leave and will be mostly in Cape Town.
Please help with giving some advice on some locations for good fishing.
Info such as Exact location/ GPS co-ordinates, what to use and safety (I'm fishing alone) will be of great help.
I only know the dams in Durbanville and had some good success for Carp, but since we can no longer fish there I will appreciate futher advice.
Thanks allot!

What fishing do you want to do?
trout. still water or rivers.
Bass, still waters or rivers.
Salt water, estauries or reefs or open sea
Carp

Not much fishing on the trout side except for the dams in Stellenbosch (Jonkershoek, Eikendal). Might be worth going to Lakensvlei inCeres if you want to chase some stillwater trout.
-
Was more thinking dams in Cape Town for bass or carp.
-
One of the best places in the Cape for bass.

anglers most welcome.

maybe try the dam in Grabouw for bass - John Brink and Chriss would be able to give you more info. it's a bit of a drive, but well worth it by the sounds of it.

If you are into large stillwaters, Voelvlei dam and Theewaterskloof have a bit of everything.
-
Carp and barbel have decimated all the bass in Voelvlei.
Not even worth the petrol driving there.

You can also consider going to Rosendal dam. There is carp and bass as well as bluegill. I have had good success in the past for bass on conventional tackle there and have hooked a few carp on fly.
PS: Do you have any idea why one cannot fish the Durbanville dams anymore (magic forest, etc.)?
