    Default La Verduga

    La Verduga [Lady Executioner]
Tied in the larger sizes this fly should sort out a few Bass. The smaller sizes are well sought after by Feisty Rainbows and an occasional Brown has been known to take a taste. Have Fun. Jax

    LA VERDUGA

Tail Orange Flash or Orange Antron Wool
    Rib Fine Silver Wire
    Body Flat Silver Tinsel
Wing Grey Polyprop over White Polyprop
    Hackle Crystal Chenille
    Head Tying Thread
Hook Black Magic B6 to 12
Thread Black Polyester or Uni thread

    STEP 1
Wrap hook shank with thread from eye to start of bend then spiral thread back to 1/3 from eye

    STEP 2
    Catch in the tail material

    STEP 3
Tie back to start of bend and clip tail to size

    STEP 4
Spiral wrap thread back to 1/3 of eye and catch in wire for rib

    STEP 5
Tie back to start of bend

    STEP 6
Spiral thread back to 1/3/ from eye and catch in tinsel for body

    STEP 7
Run the thread back to start of bend. [This back and forward tying is to give a smooth under body to the fly.]

    STEP 8
Wrap the tinsel toward the eye with overlapping turns and tie off. Clip any excess material

    STEP 9
Counter wind the rib material in evenly spaced turns and tie off. Clip excess

    STEP 10
Tie in the white Polyprop material for the under wing. Extend the wing ½ a shank length beyond the bend to allow for shaping the trailing edge

    STEP 11
Tie the grey over wing material in and clip excess materials

    STEP 12
Tie in three or four strands of Crystal Flash in front of wing. Clip to same length as wing
    STEP 13
Tie in the Crystal Chenille in front of the wing

    STEP 14
Take three turns of Crystal Chenille toward the eye and tie off.

    STEP 15
Clip any excess materials from around the eye and tidy the head area

    STEP 16
Whip Finish the head and apply head cement
Trim the trailing edge of the wing to achieve a slightly rounded profile.

NB For Harling the wing can be left long, but for Casting it is best if the Hind section of the Wing’s material does not protrude more than 3/8 inch past the bend in order avoid the wing curling under the body.
