Hello Ben,
My name is George and I too am a flyfishaholic
Hi everyone
My actual name, as per my signature, is Ben Viljoen. BenzoV is a combination of Benzo (which is just a nickname given to me by some African student friends of mine back in the day), and V is for "Viljoen".
I like fly fishing
I currently reside in Weltevreden Park, Joburg, in a complex on the banks of the Klein Jukskei river. Does anyone want to share their favourite spots along this river with me, or some helpful tips on fishing a river with no fish in it?
I've been fishing since I can remember (got the genes from my father), and have been dabbling with fly fishing in between, but never for long, and never seriously. It's only been in the last 4 months or so that for some reason I've become very interested in fly fishing.
My efforts are directed to fishing mainly the Vaal, but I'm not very species specific (I'll even take a carp on occasion )
I'm a wedding photographer by trade, and have been so for the last 4 or 5 years. My dream is to photograph Gerrit's wedding (I know, unlikely), at his very favourite largie venue, as it seems to be the only viable way for me to become aware of it's whereabouts.
I am married (sorry Shamwari), and my wife and I are expecting our first child in little less than a month.
In terms of interests. I have a love/hate relationship with photography, my wife and I enjoy a bit of birding (also a newish hobby), I frustrate myself with a round of golf once in a while, and I love to have a braai on the stoep, just me and my wife and anything cold (even just plain coke).
My goal in joining Flytalk is obviously to learn, but also to get to know some new people outside of my usual circles.
It's great to be here, and I have learned a ton already. A sincere thank you to all the sharers for their gift of knowledge and instruction.

Sorry Gonzo, could you repeat that...
Good intro, I am sure Werner Cowel would judge it fairly...
We have three things in common, we both love fly fishing, we enjoy birding and we are both married...can you believe it!!!

Ben, great intro,
Unlike the chirpers, it was good to have fished with you.
We must get together again soon.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

Hi Benzo - all very nice and all, but who really cares
This almost feels like a right-of-passage kind of thing - if you don't announce yourself you are shunned ... oh well ....
