I tied a few with beads and also with glow in the dark yarn. Never had any noticeable results on them to be honest.
They do look pretty cool when you cast them at night though...
Hi I was wondering does “glow in the dark”flys work
for night fishing? Is it worth the effort? I used to put
luminous beads on my traces when I was bait fishing.
If there was one fish or rather nuisance that liked it,it
was mr barbel. On the rest of the species I had no
compelling evidence that it made a difference. I would
really appreciate your input thanks.

You are a perishable item. Live accordingly.
Thank you for your input
Lumo flies are a big deal over in NZ at the stream mouths.
Usually a woolly bugger type thing ties with a lumo bead and charged up with a flash gun. Fished on sinking or intermediate lines and stripped very slowly. Quite effective at times.
I have fished lumo beads on salt flies and have found them to make absolutely no difference whatsoever, but to be fair, they were fished during day time and to a maximum depth of about 20 meters.
We fish glow sticks on our broadbill drifts, but that's a whole new ball game and has no relevance on this fly fishing forum.
Hope that helps a bit.
