    Arrow Cork Disc lube

What lube are you currently using on your cork discs? My "Shilton" lube is almost finished and I need some more asap. I see Abel does a lube kit but it's gonna take some time to bring that in any other ideas?

    Thanx!

I use Tibor graphite lube. Works like a charm

    Hi Gerrit,

Frontiers had some appropriate lube the last time I was there.

Thanx Gary will check it out but I think I stumbled on something great, i.e. Neatfoots oil. Same as what Abel use and recommend plus it's good for leather. (My new wading boots) Oil from calf legs nogal.

I think the little tube that comes with the Shilton is Neats oil.

BTW, A Milkfish burnt out the cork drag on my SL7 which had Neat's on it!

The graphite option sounds interesting. I would like to know more about it.

Maybe Jono or someone else can share their experiences on this matter?

G, we have the lube kits and the oil you need is Neat's Foot... and we have that separately if you want.

Thanx Mike didn't see it on the website so I assumed you don't stock it.

Graphite Lube is what Tibor recommends. And my drags have taken some abuse. Some of the other guys in Farquhar used it on Shiltons without any hassles. Its seen some long fights and runs with minimal heat generation. My only failures have been drag bearings. Never seen any bad cork wear.

Jono's Mako's are completely sealed and maintenance free- for 3 lifetimes. Thats the way to go. If Jack Charlton didnt build your reel you're in for a lifetime of maintenance (if you fish the salt hard).

Thanks. Where does one buy the graphite lube? Nice Geet btw. I use an Abel 12W on my 12 wt and had no problems when fighting GT's. But that fight is a fairly quick tug of war compared to the drawn out affair when fighting Milkfish. One of my pals (and he could fish) ended up in a 1.5 hour battle with a 40 pound Milky at Alphonse.

If it's for that pink rod/reel of yours, then the logical choice of lube is KY...

You can get big bottles of neatsfoot oil at most saddlery places. I have a bottle that I will never use in several lifetimes so anyone local wants some can have some with pleasure.
