Unless you are doing SERIOUS Blue water FF, where a 1-piece is the strongest option, there is no real difference between modern 4-piece rods when compared to 2/3-peice rods, ither than that they can be easiliy transported & stored.
HI Guys..
So sad to say but I broke my 3piece Xplorer Classic 2 9ft9Wt rod yesterday afternoon.
I had a look at a new rod but now all of them seem to be 4pieces.... Are 4pieces really better than 3????? Coming from Rock&Surf Ive always enjoyed a 1piece over 2 and 3 pieces...to be honest Ive seen so many multi piece surf rods pop. I was a little weary about my 3 piece fly rod but it worked awesome...just I cant get the 3piece Classic2 anymore..

Mark mate, the technology these days is so far superior to what it used to be.
Gone are the days where the ferrules used to splinter.
I was one of those dyed in the wool types that believed 2 piece was best.
Broke that rod and got a 3 piece (reluctantly) but it has proved itself over and over.
Now, I wouldn't go anywhere or fish without 4 piece rods.
Other than the ease to transport, there is very little else different to the other rods as Gary mentions.
Even with SERIOUS bluewater action, I can't fault 4 piece rods.
Giving the stick a bit of a stretch.
There really is no need to add to this... Technology has evolved and a 4 pc really is the way forward. Simple to transport is a big plus for me.. I can pretty much assure you, you won't be disappointed.
I'm sorry mate, I'm not sure what you are trying to say here?
What does "There really is no need to add to this... " imply?
Technology hasn't improved?
Sorry, I'm missing something -
The way i see it is..... he is saying there is not really a need for him to add......"Technology has evolved and a 4 pc really is the way forward. Simple to transport is a big plus for me.. I can pretty much assure you, you won't be disappointed. ...." because its a given. he agrees with what you have said.................... i think.
Thanks so much guys Ive noticed that most fly rod manufacturers are going for 4 pieces now... So Guess 4 piece it will be for me
All good mate!
Sometimes it is hard to read into the meanings - I was a bit slow on the uptake there Ryan.
