Default The Development of a Lakenvlei Crab pattern.

I thought this might be an interesting thread.

If you do take a trout from Lakenvlei, the majority of the times, it will have crabs in it's stomach.
The most I counted was 13 crabs, from small the size of your pinky nail to big ones.
The biggest being the size of your thumb and index finger forming a circle. (the size of the carapace)

Over the last 3 years, I have experimented with various crab patterns and developed a couple of patterns for Lakenvlei.
    Most not succesful at all.
Slowly but surely, after every trip, a new idea came to mind, when on the water.
But I think I have am very close to the right pattern.

I still have a problem with the hook up, but after the weekend I think the answer presented itself.

Have to shoot of, in the mean time, list your requirements for the perfect crab pattern, and I will list my thought processes and the evolutionn of the pattern when I have more time.

How would a crab pattern be fished in a stillwater like lakensvlei? If you retrieve it, it will spin, and if you let it lie, you will drift over it. Whats the trick? I have caught a few fish on a red velcro crag pattern, but that was from the side, not from a boat.
