Hi All
I saw a nice rod rack for in-vehicle transport of assembled rods on Flyshop's website retailing for $130 - https://catalog.theflyshop.com/image...r1vouio675007u
Any idea if anyone in SA stocks these at a similar/reasonable price?
Cheers
I am looking at the Rodmounts Sumo which is the Suction external one. Apparently these are the best you can get.

Agreed, but some of the local guys will charge three times that and then have long stories about import duties, freight costs etc etc, which in some cases I can buy, but in most cases I can't...
My thinking is just that if you have 2xR5k rods in the car, its worth getting them out the way properly. A lifetime warranty on a rod means little when you stand at the water's edge with a broken rod looking at rising fish
Mate, some of the blokes make their own.
Based on the same design but the difference is that there is an encapsulating tube running the length of the car. I have had first hand experience where the rod tips get 'whipped' against the roof of the car and suffer hairline fractures especially on rough roads.
I have seen those halfway mounts to stop the movement, but again the forward motion does bash the tips.
Some of the best designs have been agricultural to say the least, but tubes are still a rods best friend.
They are cut in half length ways and lined with a soft material. The catches are like the metal clips that click closed and keep the tubes together. They simply hang from the ceiling of the car via a hammock type system. Drive from Cape York to back of beyond and don't give a flying hoot.......no matter how much they bash around. The reels have a neoprene cover and won't get hurt either.
Just my R20.00 worth
