Bryan, I have been very fortunate and blessed with my fishing and fishing friends across South Africa.

Its one of the spinoffs of competitive fishing. There are other factors, but competition fishing opens up many doors for fishing in private locations.

Competition fly fishing has helped, but most of my contacts have been built up outside the competition structures.
Family, friends, sometimes friends of friends, word of mouth and a dad that where possible, drove the back roads, in stead of the main roads.
The result is that I also prefer the back roads.
So, if someone speaks about an area, I know it, have driven some of the roads in that area, know the geology and geography and somehow, know someone that stays or farms in that area.

Yes, that's why I said there are other factors, although I know through my own experience, that competition fishing does help to make friends with people who have access to some lesser places, or at least information about lesser places.

Luckily, nobody asked me about my Small and Large scale stream X's.

Heh heh.... they are "stream X's"..... which means that you don't have any......remember if you admit to having a stream X, it means that it isnt a stream X. A true stream X isn't even "known about", by the person who , "knows about it"......:biggrin:
