You don't have a J? Send me the diameter of the stem - will see if I can make a plan for you. Only works on smooth flat surfaces of course ...

    Hi guys,

What's the cost of a standard Jvice kit these days? By some rough sums from his $ dollar prices minus the shipping charge, I work out R8300 at today's exchange rate.

    Is this correct?

Really? That's the bargain of a lifetime! The quality is excellent! If ever I have to buy another vice, I will get a J! I never knew he was so reasonably priced.

You get the basic vice, plus all the add ons.
I have the basic vice that is mounted on my fly tying desk.
With one of the portable clamps if I go away.
The fly tying wood tray is lovely, but not for me.
As mentioned, the price for the jaws are extra as there are a couple of different sets available.
I have one of the original jaws that you can have, as I have upgraded to 3 of the other sets.

I received an email reply from Jay regarding the cost.

Standard vice, including local shipping worked out at R7287. Having just returned from New York, this is about the going rate for top end vices. It's not cheap but I would consider this an investment, not just a purchase so to speak.

That exact vice is already being brought into SA by Xplorer. I have seen this at Mias retailing for around R1500 if I remember correctly
