Baffles me that the angler did not pull/pop the small fish and go for that bigger one. I'm sure any fly that came close would have been killed!!

Exactly! I bet ANYTHING that plopped down next to it was going to get mauled, it's attacking a dead drifting stick for goodness sake!

Well I'm pretty sure that after you land the little bugger, mr BAD-ASS will still take your fly if it stayed in the area, so you'll have 2 fish instead of 1 :P

Can you imagine the adrenaline seeing this happen in front of you face... Its happened to me on a couple of bass outings, in fact one of my biggest bass ever caught went for the little one on my crank bait and got stuck, score :P

Has happened on the KMS with me once, and once with Chris vd Post, also once to Pieter Taljaard ... However, not in such calm water and the fish did not klap sticks after their meal got away

It was an amazing thing to see. with my encounter I was fishing a two fly rig, the fish attacked the small one, took one or two bites at it and then took the fly, for a brief moment I had a huge bow on the line with the small one. The big bow however broke me off quite quickly with the other fish also pulling in an opposite direction. I once sough footage in Slovenia of a 10lb plus Marble trout being attacked in much the same way as the trout in the video by a much larger marble once it was hooked, it was more than just amazing to see.

Very cool video and very aggressive brown.
