    Default LATEX some ideas please.

    I got a sheat of medical latex 450 x 450 x 1mm.
I am not too sure what I will be tying with it, but I can think of a couple of possible applications.
I am not too sure how well it will stand up to long term in the fly box, UV etc.
The color is ivory, so to color it with permanent markers is possible.

Lets see with what ideas fellow forumers can suggest, on possible use in fly tying.

some latex flies i posted in "latest flies from the vice" recently, as you can see latex makes nice segmented bodies. I used latex cut from medical gloves for the stonefly and slightly thicker latex, from diswashing gloves (remember to replace or wife gets somewhat annoyed) , for the dragon. the only thing to watch out for is that you must build up a smooth underbody or the latex (especially from the medical gloves), tends to look lumpy.

Korrie, why does it look like that Latex was hidden in some toilet paper and snuck out the doctors office? I may have to make myself a doctors appointment later today Where can we get some of these sheets?

Here is a idea for the Latex!

They deliver the latex, wrapped in the tissue paper, in a plastic bag.
    Probably to keep sterile/clean.
I got it from Supra Latex. In Cape Town.
I think they have country wide offices.
Just noticed on the invoice, it has an expiry date 01/05/2017.

Did a bit of "Stretch test" on the latex.
WOW, it stretches and it is very strong.

    Thanks Korrie!

a 4 year life expectancy is not too bad, but that is probably for it while stored though.

I just got an idea for that caddis immitation I posted above. Tie the latex in and cover the part that will be the underside with some superglue and lightly spread some fine dubbing over it to the one side that will face the back. When you tie it in the dubbing come out between the segments and make that fly!

It deteriorates quite quickly outdoors, so it's best to give it a glue/epoxy coating of some kind

Why not simply go to the pharmacy and buy a pair of latex gloves for a couple of rands. You can get quite a few fly tying and fly fishing things at a pharmacy

To thin, the latex gloves, the thickness of this is what I am after.
