I think if we did that, the list would be very short. Also we might :wink:need an Atlas... Korean, and Tiawanese....who knows.....Are they Chinese???

There is a very slight difference between top rods. What really sets them apart though is backup service, and more so years down the line, when models get replaced etc and you have a breakage.

I think that is why sage has a good name, and also why explorer do so well.Good backup service.
I am a huge Stcroix fan and really think they make superb rods, especially the legend elite and ultra.I have yet to break one and test their service(touch wood i never do break it).

I think there is more that sets the top brands apart than the backup service. There have been some top brands that have been very poorly represented here, and some lowly brands that have been well represented, so backup cant really be the only yardstick for comparison.
I like to look at rods for specific applications, and when the manufacturer understands the different fly fishing applications that their rods are designed for, I take notice. Greys for instance made some very nice nymphing rods for many years. It was only recently in the last few years that sage has come on board with some very nice nymphing rods. Greys being a mid range brand, were ahead of the race for a while with the Streamflex rods, which were more suited the Vaal Orange style of nymphing that we do here. Its only in recent years that Sage acame along with the 99, and ESN ranges, that overtook Greys in this department. I must say that all the experience over the years that I have had with Greys, their local representation cannot be faulted. I got some very good service from the local guys.

Hmmm....looks like all the brands worth mentioning, are there. There are even some brands there that I have never heard of. Certainly the important ones are there.

This thread keeps coming up as having NEW posts, but I see none, so i'll post a "new" one...

    I will be doing a short comparison between 4 x 10ft 6wt rods which I tested recently.
I was looking for another rod to compliment my existing Sage ONE and Stealth Bomber, so I tested out the Stealth Magnum and Stealth Infinity. I drew a number of conclusions.

Anyone interested in what I have to say on this?
