    Default Killarney Trout Montague/Barrydale

    Hi everyone,

Was looking on the internet for nice places to take the wife for a weekend with the option of maybe fitting in some fishing.

Found the following place and just wanted to know if anyone has ever been there and how you found it.

I saw on the streamX website they rated the fishing as pretty good, but dont know on how long ago that was.

Has anyone been there recently and how did you find it?

    Any feedback will be appreciated.

    Cheers

I have a couple of mates who try get out there a couple of times a year! They both rate the place highly. Great accommodation and great fishing.

    Hi Grant,

No I gave it a pass, but according to their FB page, they did do a restocking of what seems to be some bigger fish in December last year.

    Cheers

Also just to clarify, I didn't go because of anything negative I heard about the place, just a case of circumstances not working out, so do not read this as a slight on the place, they still look like a nice on paper.

Matt and i were there this past weekend and had some pretty decent fishing.

First day we caught 14 Rainbows ranging from 1lb to 4lb (caught a couple in the 4lb range). Sunday Kevin joined us and we caught another 10. The fishing was also quite exciting - if you saw a rise and covered it in good time you more often than not got a pull so that added a lot of fun to the day. I would recommend a tube or boat to cover most of the dam - fishing is very easy from the side but we had far more success when we got in the boat and moved to where most fish were rising which was often not within casting range from the bank.

The accomodation is also very nice and "Lady Friendly" - very comfortable.
