    Default Bead size for #14 & #16 nymphs?

    What tungsten bead sizes are you guys using for A)#14 nymphs?
    B)#16 nymphs?

    I can fit 3mm & 3.5 mm...

    It depends on the hook really but I generally put a 2.5mm on a #14 and a 2mm on a #16 as i like the proportions those give.

    Yep. 2.5 or 2.8 on a #14.
    2mm on a #16
    3mms are more for #12s to me.
    Life is a series of trout missions with that numbing feeling in between...

    Be careful not to crowd the gape it's not always about how big you can go..

    I'll use 3mm for both #14 and #16, and if I want something more delicate, I'll go down to 2.5mm on the #16.
    If you need more weight, put some lead on the shank and/or tie the fly sparse to aid sinking and expose more of the gape.
