I caught my 1st ever LM at Otter's when Ian guided me the 1st time... 7lb'er

11 June 2008; LATE afternoon (nearly dark); I recall it was !@#$*^ COLD... but what a reward when that fish boiled and hit the fly.

Ian is a good guide and nice guy; I can recommend this course and Ian's guiding trips to any interested angler [PS: I am NOT being paid or rewarded in any way to post this here].

Jeepers howzit boet, good to see you here again. are you back?

Ja Ian is very good at what he does hey. I got a lekke groot bek last year that i have to credit to him, he wasnt guiding me at the time, but the credit has to go to him for getting that baby, will post the pic on Monday. when im back on that laptop.

so what is more rewarding catching a rare bird on film or catching a nice fat largie?

ps by the way i think that venue is more y than X

Here we go, here she is. As I said Ian wasn't guiding me at the time, but all credit for catching her must go to him. venue, structure fly setup alles. And its the small things he teaches you that makes all the difference. I think a lot of guys that successfully catch largies have been guided or have fished with Ian.

Bottom line is , if you want to learn or know how to catch largies, Ian is your GO-TO man.

Ps if your computers are not backed up to date, stop what you are doing and go back them up now, My hard drive crashed on Sat morning for no reason and it has been a nightmare.

Yebo, 12th July 2013........... 15h30 to be exact. Yes this fish taught me a hell of a lot wrt never giving up, I bled for three years for this fish with a couple of rats in-between and many blanks. My wife actually said to me this fishing thing doesn't seem to be working out for you ( not really understanding that largies don't come to the fly like smallies) suggesting that it is maybe time to find a new hobby also not realising that it is more of a passion than hobby. Actually on this day coming off probably 4 or 5 blanking sessions mates sent me a message saying when I get back I should trade my boat and rods for a set of golf clubs .................. my answer was I wont give up and bam an hour later I was rewarded for the hard work, lesson have faith and don't give up.

No one can truly understand obsession until they have been obsessed enough to chase an elusive fish on fly gear, despite the rain, the cold, the blank days...
