    Default Forum newbie

    Hi everyone;

My join date says 2011, but please be assured I have not been lurking for 3 years.
I must have signed up at some point; I think it was to view a link a friend had sent me (when I registered today my email was already being used).

The first rod I ever picked up was a fly rod, but have being doing any kind of fishing I can for the past 25 odd years (trout, bass, rock and surf, yellows, tigers etc.)
Also been tying flies for about 20 years.

Last fish of note was 19lb tiger from the lower Zambezi.

    Looking forward to being here.

    David

    Welome to Flytalk David.
With 20 years of fly tying, please show us some of your favourite flies.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

Ha ha, first post and I am already telling tall tales. Tiger was 7.5 kg which is 16.5 lb (not 19 lb); think I multiplied by 2.54 instead of 2.2. Will post a pic tomorrow ...

Not to worry, real men count in Kilograms, narcissistic sociopaths exhibiting a predisposition to Anti-Social Personality Disorder tend to lob the lb around, much to the amusement of others.

7.5kg is still a class fish, would love to see, those Zambezi tigers are fascinating. And if when you have time you would like to post some of your favourite Tigerfish flies, I'm sure the forum wouldn't object to those either.

Please see pic of Tiger below; also, please note that I mentioned this as my last fish of note, but it was not caught on fly; but on conventional tackle (Rapala Magnum - Shiner).
We were there in late October last year (apparently the wrong time for fly fishing), so I carted a fly rod all the way there and didn't even unpack it.
Anyway, see below for those interested ...

    Beeeeeeeeef0k.

That's a magnificent fish, irrespective of the tackle used.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Herman,

I will try to get to it ASAP (I need to take some photos). I do have two photos of a locust fly I tied recently.
It was meant to imitate the red milkweed locusts that we get here.
The second photo shows the view from below.
I have a SBS if anyone is interested ...
