    I have a normal desk lamp, and use my led lenser headlamp as well

    You can get one of these from StreamX, no shadows and a magnifier when you tie small flies.
    This is the big LED version, but there are smaller ones with circular flourescents in them
    All ideal for photos too

    I have used two of these fluorescent lamps with magnifiers for years. Bought them from Cape Watchmakers

    Nicely priced for what you are getting. If I had a tying room or desk and did not tie on my lap, I'd get one for small flies. Right now the portable, battery powered option and/or headlamp works best for me.
