Default Poppers and Clousers for Garrick this season.

Tied up a few poppers and Clousers for what would be a serious attack on Garrick this season.

The really big ones have been eluding me, but I hope to nail at least one on a dropper system.

    Hi Brian

If the live bait anglers are using 8 - 10 inch Mullet for BIG Leeries, should your flies not be in the same range? I have been using 2/0 poppers in lagoons and never had a Leerie bigger than 9kgs.

Off Bayview/Hartenbos, I have caught bigger on long (8 inch)Clousers behind the surf but that was awhile back from a boat.

I have tied up some Game Changers which I will be casting this season - surf and estuaries in my area - Little Brak. Maybe see you on the water when I visit Peter Bailey who has been catching BIG Leeries on trolled livebait but says he will be using his fly rod this summer.

Those are the biggest popper bodies I could get. Will be making my own soon.
Most of my Saltwater flies get ties on 2/0 some bigger.

Peter is my neighbor and yes he has nailed some nice Garrick as has a few other guys. Peter sometimes does use a fly rod but attach his scarborough to it. He he.
