For sure ... in reality the BVK has a very forgiving tip while maintaining a wonderfully crisp feeling throughout the rod and it really is very light.

Anybody who says different has most probably simply not had one in hand.

My 5WT BVK ousted a 5WT Sage One for dry fly work at Sterkfontein, while my 8WT bombs 2/0 Clousers a mile a minute at the Tigers.

My own naturally, but for specifically hopper/dry fly deployment on SM, this sentiment is shared by others. The One is a great rod, I really liked it a lot, until I fished the BVK, now I still like the One. I just prefer the BVK.

there is 11'6'' double hander , 7/8/9 line line
I will consider to get one of those ...
Think not only about Salt, but of huge Barbels which scarifies me swimming between my legs on several SA waters while chasing Yellows

Not sure I agree with the fast glass hype in this particular context but each to their own. In my experience they are more durable than graphite blanks happily taking knocks and bumps in their stride and they definitely do have a soft tip with a backbone that locks up nicely when needed... They are however "dull" when compared to top end graphite blanks. Not what you need when every split second counts and you need to tell the difference between a tap on your fly and your fly tapping something...

    Again, just my experience.

Epic S2 unidirectional fibreglass is nothing like any old glass we know.
It is not dull at all .
Like with everything else: one must try it to believe it .

After few days with Epic glass, one realize it was unnecessary (and unhelpfully ) to compare it with carbon rods - simple because Epic fast glass is league by it self.

I have my third Epic on its way , in #6 weight , especially for Vaal River Largies , Carps and Barbels.
Decision has been made after one year with #4 and #5 Epics.
The only plastic rod I used from time to time last year , was Sexyloops Hot Torpedo #6 , in extremely windy conditions.
The rest of my +20 carbon rods were collecting the dust . This season will be the same.

That's why I thought my experience may be appropriate for the subject and help someone with the same tackle dilemma in almost the same conditions .
If I made mistake , sorry

This is Salsa #580 , 5X tippet and small , but wild Carp. No any issue with fighting and landing this rather fighting fresh water animal .
    # 686 will do the same with +10 kg Carp or Largie , I am sure.

This was #476 Epic, with amazing 6X tippet and Yellow , very wild as well
