    Default Size of PIKE FLIES

    It always amazes me the size of Pike flies. HUMUNGUS.
    I encountered these on a recent trip. Have a look at the R20 note for size
    some of the flies are 30cm in length

    some more flies, Tandem hooks in some flies
    I am sure some of them will work on our barbels

    a bit of useless info

    Pike in Dutch is Snoek.
    it is a fish with lots of teeth.
    So when the Dutch arrived here in the 1650's they caught "our snoek" which also had big teeth. and the two looked a little like each other.
    So they named it Snoek.
    The same applies to the Snook they catch on the East Coast of America and the Baramundi Snook in Australia.

    American snook and Baramundi snook looks a bit like the European pike with the big mouth and shape

    yes, they can be pretty impressive, don't rock up with less than a 10wt .... the below is from a thread a couple of years ago:
