    Default Olympus (not so) tough

So, on a recent 'berg trip i dropped my Olympus Tough 800. Unfortunately it landed just at the wrong angle on a convex rock causing the material where the connectors are housed to shatter.

Camera is still usable, but i doubt it is still waterproof (although I've not put it to the test)

Anyway it was pretty old, so probably time to upgrade anyway, so I'd be interested in what people are using and how happy with ye choice are you?

    Options i'm considering:

    Olympus Tough TG-3 - Price around R6000
    Canon PowerShot D30 - Price around R3500
    Fujifilm FinePix XP70 - Price around R3000

I'm currently leaning towards the cannon ... any thoughts?

The Olympus have always been more "Tough" than the Pentax or the Canon, in my book.

I have the TG-810, it's a few years old now, so whatever the equivalent in a current model is, would be my choice.

My old Olympus waterproof camera is still going strong, must be about 8 years old by now, maybe more. It was one of the first waterproof cameras on the market, and its been great.

I had a Tough, then lost it to Donkergat on the Smalblaar, I replace that with a Pentax, which broke almost immediately, and went back to tough. In my opinion it is the best option.
