    Default Van Der Kloof colors

Hi guys. I'm planning a trip to Van Der Kloof. Having only seen photos and some video footage it struck me that the water was fairly clear. I'm tying flies at the moment and it seems to me greys and browns (lighter colors) would be better than the darker ones. Anybody with experience on the dam care to comment?

    PS: trip is in March

    Thanks!

We had reasonable success with greenish flies in October. We'll be going there 19 - 22 Feb, will keep you posted.

Oh, and don't just fish the cliffs. When we went we caught most of our fish on flatter banks.

Thanks Pershond, looking forward to your report back. Any structure on those flatter banks like trees and grass beds?

Our last trip in Dec it was Olive that achieved most success, also smaller 3 inch flies (muishond, msp) did the business. Edge of weedbeds on the flatter banks, boat in 15ft, casting into 8-10ft.

No worries, I would add that you will need a DI 4-5 sinking line. Can go intermediate but takes to long to get down to the 1-2 meters you need to be.

In early November, lighter flies definitely did better than darker ones. Visibility was around 1m.
