    Default Hook SIZES?????

Hook sizes. are they still applicable?
With all the specialist competition hooks around, do the sizes on the packets carry any weight?
I saw special #20 dry flies hooks that was more like the "old" #16.

Think the old sizing is more just a reference than an actual size.
How many of the forumers tie on "competition hooks" and who uses the "standard hooks"?

I use Knapek, Dohiku, Allen, Demon and have used Hanak, but I see them as "normal" hooks and not competition hooks though. What would you classify as "normal" and "competition"?

The competition hooks started with special features
    Bigger gape.
    Longer point.
To such an extent, that some of the gapes are now the same as 2 sizes bigger.
Is this now still a normal hook size?
Or is this a bigger hook with a shorter shank?

Apparently a competition hook has to be barbless. No longer does a "debarbed" hook qualify.
