Not something we have in SA
A website showing how far the ice/snow have melted.
    http://www.smhi.se/klimatdata/meteor...sobservationer
This past weekend, they had to rescue some people lost in the snow in the area where we will be going.
This snow better melt very fast.
Use the sliding scale at the bottom, to see how much have melted.

A website that tells you where summer is
    http://www.smhi.se/vadret/vadret-i-s...ta/ank_som.php
    Translate this via Google
this website was forwarded by my friends in Sweden.
    Click on the" view stock"
Tells you where the average temp must be, where it is this year.
Love their description of when summer arrives

"Summer's arrival means the first day of five with summer temperatures (average daily temperature over 10 ° C)."

There is even a little "Tick Box" to let you know summer has not arrived yet.

I had feedback from the email group going on this morning, about the preperations etc.
This one line made me go BRRRRRRR

"Just need one final weather observation, yesterday Stekenjokk, about 100 km to the north *** 62 cm of fresh powder snow!"

FAAARRRCCCCKKKK. think I should leave the fly rods and take the ski's

I had the most amazing fly fishing trip ever.
It was cold, very cold, it was wet, very wet.
The drive was very long, the hike was very far, and very though.
8,5 hours drive, and a 7,5 hour hike on approximate 12km.
80% of the hike, was thru marsh, moor, bog type of landscape.
Sweden had its most snow in 200 years. The snow melted a week or so in the area where we hiked.
The soil/land was pure bog/peat moor type. Walking almost every step in water.
The effect was like walking on a water logged 15cm foam mattress, with a 25kg back pack on your back.
Almost ever step you gave, you sank in, any thing from 2cm to your knees.
We saw a couple of bear droppings, so most of the time, we had to talk very loud, sing or say hello in Swedish " Heij Heij" which was the easiest, as it used the least amount of air out of the lungs.
Finding a dry camping spot was impossible, but each tent had an extra ground sheet, which kept out most of the wet from the soil.
I will post a more complete report back, as I am sifting thru the photos.
But it was the most amazing fishing trip ever

Shoot I hope the fishing compensated for the hike in. Seems you are still in good spirits so you must have had a good bit of Fun.

Bet it is good to be back Home.

Arriving at the end of the road, we had to redistribute the food and tents among the 4 of us, as it was loaded along the way of picking up the other 2 guys.
Peter, my friend, is a trained chef, so the food for the breakfast and evenings where top notch, but you had to carry it in.
It was great to go into the Swedish Wilderness, with experienced outdoor guys.
The one, does the extreme cross country skiing and the other was a medic in the Swedish para-troopers

We had a break every 40 to 60 minutes, as walking on the soggy ground was hectic.
every now and again, we had to cross a little rocky ridge, so if the ground was not wet and soggy, it was over a rocky ridge.
Here we stopped at the transistion between a rocky outcrop and the moor ground
