    Default Grabouw Area

    Hi all.

I'm heading towards the Grabouw area this weekend. I'm wondering if it will be worth while packing a rod.

Are there any dams or rivers in that area that will be good to cast a fly in this time of year?

I am nit sure about Grabouw in winter - MOFAM for bass. I believe there was some fishing in Botriver, and then the Hermanus syndicate has some waters.

Give the houw hoek farmstall a call, at one stage they were advertising trout dams on their property.

I wouldnt worry and the inn - it is one tiny pond that is heavily overgrown with duckweed. its actually sad there are fish in there.

Three dams up at the farm stall, and not a bad place if that's what you looking for. Very close to the inn, just on the opposite side of the N2

I stopped by in April - The dams you see are empty of water and full of reeds and duckweed, it looks like you can walk over it. The dams did not look like the pictures to me.

Right so after only having a short time to fish I went to Houw Hoek. Not my cuppa tea. Small ponds, lots of grass. I saw quite a big trout jump which got me excited, but only managed to get a bump on a foam beetle. Had to be out at 16:30 so didn't fish in prime time, but won't be going back soon.
