I bought a second hand fishduc, its more than 10 years old now and still going strong, and it takes a hammering on the vaal. Also a 30lb min kota is fine for me - its slow to go upstream if there is decent flow, but its manageable.

One of my friends told me after I bought the duc that they can disintegrate beyond repair if left in the sun for months (it happened to their crocs). So buying a second hand one might be a bigger risk than I thought. But mine was fine.

    Hope that helps Zoran.

Ja, but at least with an Ark you get a 5 year guarantee for the welded seams. Most others are glused and you maybe get a year.

    The sun destroys everything.
    Always try to store indoors.
With the small fish Arc etc, the material creases and eventually starts leaking on the spots where most of the folding creasing happens.
I use to inflate mine, when I got home and hanged the boat from the rafters in the garage, from the rafters.
Bit of a schlep, but it does help.
Now, I just patch the holes..
One thing to remember, is not to patch or use the glue in cold weather.
the glue goes a milky color and is not strong especially when there is a high humidity with the cold.
With the drying, condensation takes place on the glue, affecting the strenght.

Another good thing to have on your system is an over amp circuit breaker. That will prevent stuff from melting if something catastrophic goes wrong (and prevents you getting stuck in the middle of nowhere)

I imported one of these - check the correct rating on your motor

And then I also put in a battery monitor so you know how much juice you have left for the rest of the day.

I put all of this into a plastic box, with the monitor glued to the top of the lid. Monitor is of course over the terminals and fuse inline.

This is the box I used

Drilled two holes in the lid and used nuts and bolts for new terminal connectors on the top of the box.

Couple of good meters to have in the system.
on 3 occasions, I ran out of battery power.
Terrible, when you are banking on the battery power to aid with the rowing etc and then there is nothing.
Especially with a strong head wind.
