    Default Zandvlei carp

    Howsit guys.
Keen to do some fly fishing for carp at Zandvlei.
Have caught a lot of leeries spinning there before close to the mouth.
How far down do the carp go. Will you be able to catch them in the canals by Marina da Gamma and the bird sanctuary "island"?
No you get them further up by the cannals at the top of the vlei but how is the safety there going by yourself?
    Any info would be appreciated.

Canals pretty consistent if there is enough water. Very safe but carp pretty spooky due to more or less incessant jigging. Visibility can be a challenge and flies should be tied hook up to avoid the astonishing variety of junk the good citizens of Steenberg chuck in their rivers. Sizes average 2.5-4.5kg. Oh yes take a landing net - you don't want to jump in!!
