    HI GUys

I am off to phukey on honeymoon for a week in a weeks time. The mrs has alllowed me to take my rods. I would be staying on Karon beach. I have read up high and low on the net and there seems to be some prospects for getting some new species although not much. Just wanted to know if anyone can give me some tips or advice.

Riveck, theres a fishing park on Phuket, where you can get 200lb alligator gar... that might be a good species on fly

I've been reading up and the saltwater looks very promising if you can afford a Charter.. otherwise it seems to be pretty fished out along the coastline.... we staying at patong beach just up from you..

khoa lak fishing Park seems to be the answer.. ill enquire more about it once im there.. but definitely dragging my 9wt along.... maybe we get lucky somewhere. worth a try anyway

    Enjoy your honeymoon!!!

Google Flyfishing Thailand and you will see that you can do some smallstream fishing for Masheer as well as a host of other exotic species in lakes and ponds.

Hah ha.....good luck fishing from the beaches.
They catch and take anything that swims or even crawls.

I lived in Singapore for 5 years and fished most of SE Asia and surrounds and wild fish are pretty rare.

As mentioned the ponds are fishable, but it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
You'll find the Mahseer are very remote - and even then, they are more than likely netted.

In my absolutely honest opinion, go there and just enjoy yourself on the beaches and the great food and sight seeing.

    Enjoy your honeymoon.
