Put the rod under the windscreen wiper .... it holds it securely and completely out of harms way!!!

The guide also drove his Jeep with our rods there ... admittedly there were no trees to catch the rods.

use it .. don't use it!!
    excellent tip! Thanks!

An even better tip would be to tie the rods to the windscreen wipers, and turn the wipers on. This would be an automatic false-casting machine and you could cast two rods at once, leaving your hands free to eat burgers and guzzle beer. Turn the wipers off when the flies are in the water, and when a fish takes, simply restart the engine and the wiper will hook the fish for you. Maybe a supplementary fan belt attached from the engine to the reel could automatically reel the fish in as well?

I LIKE it!! .... and you could use the car alternator to power all the LCDs, little propellors, etc on the fly!!!

    Whaa ha ha.

Use the exhaust to keep your hands warm and if the fish puts up a real tough fight, just slam the car into reverse and put your foot down.

Excellent thinking! Especially when you've a 47lb trout on the end and one of Shelton's 000's on the wiper!

They were little R70/R80 Kingfisher bass rods that we used to fish with as kids. My Brother and 2nd oldest sis got them now. I caught a sock (Long brown "Bobby" sock) with one of them the one day. I just kept my Coffee Grinder though.
I.v only recently gotten into fly fishing
