2 x walking into trees along the river , not on the same trip
1x cubbyhole slam, on the same trip as one of the above
1x car door, on the same trip as one of the above
1x tripped while stalking a pool and the rod ended up doing a pole vault pole action and snapped
1x stumbled as the tender beached and I stood on the new 12wt, making it a 5pc - no fish caught on the rod either
now i buy rods with decent warranties
The one that had a knock from dumbbell eyes.
Or the one that was knock by the car door.
Or the one that is overloaded.
Or the one that with a weakspot.
Or the one that has a material stress point
Or the one that that is badly made
Or the one that is just from a bad brand

Don't go knocking on Death's door, ring the bell and run like hell. He hates it. (anon)
Nymphing, adds depth to your fly fishing.
Nymphing, is fly fishing in another dimension
I have one of my fly rods broken by a mate after he stood on it when we went fishing in a little boat.
Afterwards he commented. 'But it is so thin'.
My other rod one that broke quite recently was a knock from a clouser. It is quite a weird feeling to see your rod tip go flying. It takes a moment to realise what just happened.
" Not tonight baby! I gotta fly"
Broke so many rods recently that I'm scared to take them out. T.F.O., SAGE, T&T, explorer brands mean nothing. Years of fishing without even a scare. Must be a lack of confidence.
1x stood on it (Someone else rod though)
2x fish (One yellow in the vaal, and one monster trout)
2x broken eyes while dissembling them
1X weed in the Zambesi
I had a black Kingfish break my 12wt at Bassas...still dont know what I did wrong, but he snapped it...
Bubble, Bubble, Bubble and Squeak...I think this mixture is too weak!!!???" (Wrex Tarr)
First one ( 5# )was on a 4.3 kg Muddie, ( landed with a 3/4 length rod )
Second ( 9# ) snapped whilst rigging up, AFTER being hit a few hours earlier by a size 2 Bugger with 0.4 mm tungsten bead and 15 wraps of lead.
Third: 6# Bomber . Being lazy and trying to pluck a fly out of a bush.
Fourth : Self same Bomber 6#, again being lazy and trying to horse a foul hooked muddie up against a strong flow.
Fifth : 5# Scott. Hit the tip with a car door . The rod is now a one of a kind. Hand built 8' 10 and 1/2 ",
Sixth : 6# Bomber ( same rod ) breaking an eye off, trying to dismantle the rod.
I have been told by the previous Stealth rep, that I need training wheels for the Bomber.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.
