Hi, no Im not aware of that, but just to put you in the picture, a shootout, depending on what is being evaluated, is in no way a reasonable comparison between these rods. Explorer are very good rods, and so are Sage, but they are targeted at a vastly different market. It would ve very interesting to see such an evaluation. If it was about casting alone, there would be very little in it, as both rods, in fact all fly rods , are capable of casting the same amount of line, the same distance, with the same number of false casts, all dependent on the person doing the casting, so casting a fly rod is in no way a definitive test of its application prowess. In fact some of Sages more specialised rods, are more difficult to cast in a conventional fly fishing way, hence Sages more "specialised rod " approach. Yes, Sage does have a few "all rounder" typee of rods, and they are all good rods, but they are no more difficult or easy to cast than an Explorer, which is a great rod for what it is... but it aint no Sage, and it aint even close, and never will be.

Does anyone perhaps know of the Shoot-out in question? I assume it would have been a local one. I missed it, so any info/links would really be much appreciated - thanks.
