Tied up some Kob flies for the Breede. Been experimenting with a Bob Popovic's pattern for some time now and made some adjustments to his bend back snagless Siliclone.I came up with the Dusky Darter, named after one of our most special species in SA, the Dusky kob. During the past season the fly has proved itself on kob and not so much the looks but the functionality of it - cutting through drifting weed, bottom structure etc. It has an awesome side to side/erratic action and I believe this style of tying has great application when it comes to species like bass/tigers/largemouth yellows. Red Mullet, Goby and Chartreuse/White are proven colours. The fly is tied Avalon shrimp style with the mono extending and acts as a weed guard.
