Default one of the better venues to fish

    Hi Cameron,

You can not compare the two, Arniston is one of the better venues to fish the gullies for blacktail, zebra etc. De mond is a really great estuary and expect some big mullet, both striped and bullnose, grunter and Leeries, some good kob also were landed there on fly earlier this year. Feb is a great month to fish both these venues.

    Hi guys.
Been wanting to fish de Mond for a while.
Can anyone maybe tell me what is the distance from Struisbaai to de Mond and what is the gravel road like?
Or apart from staying in the nature reserve is there a better place to stay close to de Mond?

The Nature Reserve only has one or two cottages that are book months in advance. However, there are a few other places close to the estuary, such as info@demondveldcottage.co.za, but Arniston, Struisbaai or Bredasdorp are all close. The gravel road is fine if travelled at 60-70 km/h in a normal car. Have fun and scale down a bit on the size of the flies. There are lots of info on this site.
