It's the same with Barbel, the best eating ones are between 3 and 5 kg. Anything over that and they are carrying far to much fat, which needs to be trimmed off before soaking and smoking, or braaing.
I still need to eat one of those - but i would prefer to know that it came from clean water like sterkies. I can vouch for sea barbel though they are sweet.
