Some mullet from the sea, Pearly Beach. Approx 10cm.
Hi Guys,
Thought it would be informative and helpful if we share pics of fish/organisms we aim to imitate in the salt. Often there are different colour variations (prawns etc.) between different estuarine and saltwater systems etc.
A Breede Prawn - small one, about 6cm.

Cool Occie, looks like a different smaller species than the Breede one below? Have a client who fishes the marshes in Stilbaai, opposite the slip, and that is the only bait he fishes.

What is always very interesting for me is how close to the real thing you can get with a fly...Phillip ive seen your work and always dumb founded at how you get there.
Doug Larson said, "If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."
Ja thats where I always fish.
Looks probably like they are a different species. The ones in Stilbaai are def. darker and by the picture there eyes are sitiuated at a different position.
There are litrally thousands of them in between the grass.
Got a few ideas im going to try out but not the easiest of creatures to make a realistic imitation of.
