Sole at De Mond

While retrieving a mullet imitation at De Mond for kob on a sinking line I felt this solid bump, backing disappeared in a flash as the fish took off on a blistering run, 30 minutes later and the fish was at my feet, my first sole on fly.

Interesting is that a friend of mine caught a 1kg. sole on the Struisbaai surf years back, on a Clouser minnow. The sole had a solid - 30 odd cm. bloodworm in its stomach. How does a sole get to a bloodworm in the surf, interesting...

I have foul hooked a few small sole dredging the bottom in Little Brak over the years so it is not an uncommon event. Do you think the Grunter would prey on these tasty morsels as I tied up some flies to imitate them but lost interest in fishing them after a couple of sessions?

I think they definitely feed on these together with sand and mud gobies.
