    Default One Fly

    ........in order to survive, to feed yourself and your loved ones, you must catch fish. However, you may only have one (AND THAT MEANS ONE!!) type of fly, in one pattern only.

    Don't ask what conditions, don't say it depends on the conditions, you are not permitted any other option than to grab that fly/streamer and go!

    soooo .. which fly would you take along?

    I would take a GILLBUSTER ... in Black, Olive, Bue (yes .. BLUE), Cartreuse & Black - mainly on a #10 hook.

    They work on just about any of our fishy friends.

    I would opt for a darkish GRHE tied on a TMC 200R, #12. This I can fish as nymph and by doping the thorax, as an emerger of sorts. Makes me wonder what fly was fished by the last winner of the Jackson Hole One Fly Contest.

    By the way, has any of our esteemed forum members used the Fox's Poopah with any degree of success?

    One fly for Cape Town?.... I would probably go with Eben on this, Size 10 beaded Fritz in Olive with a black tail. Good for the Salt as well.
    Around the steel no tortur'd worm shall twine, No blood of living insect stain my line;
    Let me, less cruel, cast feather'd hook, With pliant rod athwart the pebbled brook,
    Silent along the mazy margin stray, And with fur-wrought fly delude the prey

    Yip, had a look at the site. It appears that the Chernobyl Ant and its various and multi-coloured offspring are flies to reckoned with. The Lime Trude and flies tied in the same style also seem to do well.
