I bought this book a couple of years ago, while it's an excellent book and covers every technique known to man, it doesn't really teach you to tie particular flies. Eben bought a cheaper version of the same book which has the techniques in conjunction with tying particular patterns. Looks very good and ideal for a beginner. In your case you probably want the reference. I paid about R350 for mine off Amazon a couple of years ago, locally at the time it was selling for R700.
