Here is a pic of one of my minnow patterns that I tie on 1st when hitting the water fishing for Trout and Largemouths.
Hook: Gama stinger # 4 / #4 Mustad Stinger
Tail: Chartreuse Marabou tail
Body:Spun deer hair Olive (trimmed to shape)
Body in front:Spun brown deer hair (trimmed to shape)
Eyes: Gold with black(epoxy used)
Bead: Tungsten Gold 4mm
Notes: 1.The hair was spun using plain common mono.It worked a charm and is super strong.
2.No lead was used as u cannot spin unless it's a bare shank. The bead gives the fly a nice little jig action.
3.U can also leave the bead out which will aid in fishing smallow/structured water for trout. That one I call a floating minnow.
4.Surgical blades works lekker for trimming the hair
Pic quality not that good,sorry!!
I can see every thing but the fly got any other pics

Ja nee sorry man,no offense taken Dizzy,i knew it wasn't good.
Lets try again.
Only got a 4 x zoom.
Otherwise I'll show it come Vaal venue # ?
Ja no, it will have to be.
Try taking pics of it with out using the zoom,
cos it looks like you're focusing in the backround rather than on the fly itself,
I would imagine this is cos you're using the zoom function. But I'm no expert, so its just my thought!
Maybe try give it a solid background, like a piece of blue or green paper!

Hey Gerrit, try taking the photo from further back and then zooming in on the computer and crop it. Also I don't know if you have a digital macro option on your camera, but that will help a lot. Definitely try a piece of card/paper behind it.
Hope it come right as it looks like an interesting pattern.
Around the steel no tortur'd worm shall twine, No blood of living insect stain my line;
Let me, less cruel, cast feather'd hook, With pliant rod athwart the pebbled brook,
Silent along the mazy margin stray, And with fur-wrought fly delude the prey
Naa,can't get it better,
At least the profile can be seen
Macro photography is definately the way to go when taking pics of flies.
The question is a bit vague, but for both situations, Yellowfish and/or Troot in Stillwaters and/or Rivers, not knowing what else is around in terms of invertibrates... good old fashioned GRHE.
"Hierdie drol het baie vlieë" - Ago 2014.
As you say the question is a little vague - for trout - woolly bugger, for yellows - cj variation, or a flashback.
