    Question Funky colours

I tried something new. Well, for me it's new! I like tying flies as natural as possible (colour wise). So I've deviated from that a bit by tying a few control flies with thoraxes in chartreuse, hot orange and something very funky.......Mackenzie ( ) blue caddis dubbing. Looks lekker disco!!!

How's your takes on using "extreme" colours on flies?

CJ without being picky isn't it Mackenzie Green? I used it blended/toned down a bit with light olive to imitate the natural colour of one of the two predominant Vaal caseless caddis larvae, very funky colour!

I have had fantastic catches on the radical colors.
Bright neon green caddis, with a shocking red head/thorax as an example.
Fish don't have hands to inspect any strange new looking item.
They mouth it to inspect it, just incase it is food.
That is why some of the strange and wierd colors work. Or that is the theory.
Up to now this theory has worked for me.

Maybe we should groundbait with magic mushrooms to make the neon colours even more exciting to the fish!

Have to put this in, Jirri’s response on this question at the seminar was simple, straight forward and will probably stick with me my entire life.
He said: “fish is like woman in regards to always wanting to try something new when they see it” ....
No one does it smaller then me!

    Hi
I forgot that comment, thanks for reminding me.
It is a beautiful piece of advice.
