Good, so tying flies with a bit, or lots of boogy funk is actualy a good thing!

How's this "porno crystal purple white" colour (white ice dubbing). I've tyed some controls with that and I have to say.......they look funky fresh! Any luck on that colour as it does, in my opinion, qualify as a "funky colour"?

It is a pretty radical colour, maybe in the funko-porno class?

Cj, I've found that that colour works really nice on emerger patterns - spun and tied in at the thorax area.
Funky colours caught the biggest fish (4.5kg & 4kg) last weekend. I fished natural colours and got "smaller" fish. Having said this I have found that colours seems to be venue specific. A very clued up friend of mine on this forum has found that yellows shows a liking for pink and blue when fishing is "off" - dunowhy.

I met this guy at Sterkfontein who was fishing with a home made fly that resembled a small frog (size 12 +/-), made from a dense elk hair body positioned towards the lower end of the hook with four rubber little legs.

The action this lure made was amazing, When retrieved the frog would stay submerged just under the water surface and then pop-up, all and all a very subtle movement unlike a popper.

Well the end result was some explosive takes which was really good to watch. Anyone here ever made a small frog?

I guess it's time i purchased myself a good vice set. The possibilities are endless.

It's nogal easy if you mastered the art of spinning deer hair. Yes, get a vise...catching fish on flies you tied yourself is awsome!

Nice, I've tyed some of that funky ass dubbing into my may nymphs. Looks cool. Lets hope they pass some disco funk onto the Yellows. I wish I could take picks of these creations but, no camera!

I've allready got Terry trained at Fishing Owls....I just walk in there and ask for "funky ass dubbing" and he'll take me straight to it........cool hey?
