I think it would be a good idea to pack in a kayak....

With all the rain we've had, the rivers will be flowing high and fast!

well, it was one of those iffy build ups to a days fishing. having booked the beat about 3 weeks ago, to secure a last ditch cast. last weeks rain threw us into a "i dunno" scenario. my turning point was really this morning when my wife and daughter got up and were preparing for their league outing, and it was raining....i said "stuff it, if they can... then i must also"....this was with a heavy heart mind you as i had a few cold ones last night, thinking fishing was out. we got out the tunnel and saw the water was pumping, proceeded to SB2 and stood there like 2 goons....what do you think?...dunno, what do YOU think? dunno. we thought "stuff it, last cast" and went down to a boiling mass of water. we bundu bashed big time to find a spot to enter safely. got in and morne was first to cast, we fished subsurface flies with an indicator. i tied a bastardised version of darryls cdc nymph and it worked for me last weekend. i got the first fish...for a change and that changed our mindset from f...., this is k&k, to ookkaay...maybe we will get something afterall. i ended with 5 fish and morne 4, we only fished till the spot where the concrete wall of the hiway is in the water. the rest was too deep. in hindsight i'm glad we went, we struggled to get out though and i was really scared at one point as the water was so fast it kept washing your foot off the rock you wanted to place it on, my wading stick had to be "punched" in the water to get it down. Chriss, how did you guys do? we saw 2 guys fishing junction pool on SB6. lekka day but cold cold feet and icy nuts. must say in hindsight i'm glad i was part of the icy nuts gang as the fish were all big and strong.
    cheers
