Fresh Fly Swap Theme - for Fresh Fly Swap March 2008.
It’s time to start organising Fresh Fly Swap - March 2008. In line with suggestions made, which fly theme/type should be tied for this fly swap?
Once the fly theme/type is decided upon, I will create a new thread for the actual fly swap.
I say Klinkhammers!

The solution to any problem -- work, love, money, whatever -- is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

What about dry may and caddis fly patters? If we dont round it off to one or two tipes (insect patterns), you will end up with patterns you can only use in Alaska for Grizzly's. This will also work nice if you target the Vaal on dry fly, you'll have all the flyswap flies to try!?
theres and idea
"Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time."
How about dries for yellows in the vaal & orange!!
Ive never actually tied dries for yellows except for Sterkfontein.
Id like it because there arent alot of guys trying out yellows in the vaal with dries. It will be interesting to see the differences etc.
Ok then - thats my suggestion
I would rather enlarge the scope to all drys. I may for instance whish to tie some beetles which anybody could use for Sterkies. Then of course there's the dragons, spiders, spent flying ants etc.
Quite a few entrants come from the Cape area and I definately would love to see what they use down there.
Maybe we can even coax Messers Shelton, Lampert and Cox to enter this one
I do not fish my flyswap flies, the intention is to eventually frame the collections with the tyer's name next to the fly. I feel it is a good way of preserving what is essentially a labour of love by a lot of different individuals.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

Sh!t, I did'nt know you've taken "flyswap" to that level!
I see your point, but (I dont know about the other guy's) I want to try mine out.
Why not then tie dries that can be used for a certain species....like this one we ty dries for yellows. The next one we ty flies for trout!?
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.
