This morning a fat beast 18lber LM swam into my hook. Taken on my "Pap en Vleis" Crab pattern!

Soon after I landed this fine specimen 4.5kg Smallmouth Yellow on a #16 PTN.

Yesterday on the Vaal, not a day for quantity but quality fish... And a perfect fish juggle before the photo...

did Arends today, swambo joined but then decided to swim in the pool as the heat was extremely high. highest temp measured by the car was 40 deg. started fishing just after 10am. plenty muddies around so changed to size 12 demon hooks, easier to pull off a fouled hooked muddy (well 97,5% of time). caught many small 100 to 400ish gram yellows, a few nice ones of 1.2 to 2.3kg range with the two nice ones, one weighed in at 3,2kg on the net scale and the other was weighed twice, with the net (3,75kg) then on the digital scale at 3,82kg. pink bead was on top form today followed by yellow. also used a weightless brown mayfly nymph (demon hook). the venue was pretty empty today, had a group of 4 gents fishing nearby. the one chap landed a complete fly rod, lucky bugger.
